When I first moved to Austin there were several cases of people taking kittens and throwing them out their car windows on IH-35, our busiest highway. It got so bad that there were billboards up trying to get people to take their (unfortunately) unwanted kittens to the animal shelters where they could be adopted out. It about killed me to hear that people could actually do something that cruel!! It's been almost 2 years since I've lived here now and you never hear about it anymore.

I actually wanted to volunteer for the animal shelter, but my husband won't let me. He's afraid I'll "bring my work home".
