I'm glad to report that both of our newest rescues continue to improve. The little shepherd, now named Maya, is in a foster home and is starting to eat quite well. She loves her foster parents and I feel she will do well in her new home. Chris, the St. Bernard, is recovering well and is now working with a trainer. He had no training or socialization before and could not even be walked. He will work with the trainer for a while and then hopefully find a home where someone has some time to spend with him. Hope had her first (small) taste of turkey and boy-did she love it!! She is doing very well and has only 3 more weeks of her lampshade. On a sad note, Wednesday we lost Max, our cocker mix who was 12. He had a tumor in his spleen that ruptured. They figure is was cancer. I have lost 4 dogs in the last year to cancer. Not a very good Thanksgiving and it has not been a good year for my dog family but they will be with me forever and each has added something special to my life. The grief sometimes is overwhelming. We all know that they won't live forever but the time that they have with us is so short. One is never prepared for their passing.![]()
