Laurie, I, too, am smitten by the "big guys". My GSDs are oversized and 100 lbs. at least. I have not had the opportunity to be owned by a Leo yet, but who knows! If I am ever called upon to foster (when I am able to foster again), I KNOW that I will end up keeping him/her. I was told by Leo rescue, though, that so few turn up to be rescued, that I may not get the chance.

My Great Pyr was the biggest sweetheart to those she liked, but not to all. At one time, a neighborhood teenage brat threw sand in her face when she was in the yard and she NEVER forgot that. She had it in for many teenage boys. She did pick up on fear, too. If anyone was afraid of her, she knew it. She did LOVE all children though, and wanted to guard them. If she loved you, you were blessed with undivided love and devotion. I never sat alone without her huge head in my lap.

When it comes to GSDs, though, there is just something about them that I cannot resist. Maybe way back in the time of dinosaurs when I was young, that stuffed wolf had an influence on me, or RinTinTin on TV......or my first dog, a German line GSD. Yes, I do love Pyrs and Leos, but I think my first love is the GSD, especially a rescue!!
