Benji isn't adopted yet. He's fairly new and scared of the world. He knows my voice now though. When I was pulling dogs last night to take to grooming, he heard me and started howling. Another girl went to calm him but he kept looking for me. Sheesh. I WANT that dog. He's so big though and I don't have a yard. I'd hate to cram him in here. Well I'd love to cram him in here but for his sake, I don't think it'd be wise

Doc was adopted today. I don't know the details yet but I'm sure it was to a very good person. Doc's adoption required counseling before they could take him home so I'm sure the people know exactly what they're getting into. Sometimes the counseling session scares people off. But thats good because that means they weren't ready for the responsibility.

You and Bug are welcome here any day!!! Be warned, I'll be trying to get you to adopt all sorts of dogs

Aly, I think you should test Ben out on Reece. They say the big dogs are actually more couch potato prone and good for small spots. Bug is three feet tall on all fours - 45 lbs. - and stretches out to a whooping 6 feet something and we live in 250 sq ft. there's always room! i take bug to the local dog park at least 3 times a week and the other 4 days are also adventures - beach, pet shop, walks through the neighborhood....

And i' sure if i found my way down to you i'd come home with a car full (and a huge HUGE smile!) heeheeeheeee

bugmom, I thought about what you said and I remembered Great Danes DO happen to be dogs that don't need an excessive amount of exercise. I got so excited and I set up a doggy intro with Reece for the weekend. But guess what? I was reading his paperwork and three awful words were on there..."doesn't like cats"

That should be okay cuz aside from Reece it seems like Shiloh doesn't like dogs

but truly and big DARN!!! to those three words. But you and ben will have a good time together until he is adopted by the perfect family. Maybe Sadies new parents know of someone....

I never open the magazine of YGRR if I don't have a box of tissues nearby This is probably true for all the members that get "Golden Times."

Shiloh actually likes dogs, just not Harley because he scared the daylights out of her

She must be the sole feline in the house for some reason though.

Yes, Benji is a great dane/shepherd mix. I was walking him today and stopped to talk to a woman I know. When he realized I wasn't talking to him, he jumped up and put his paws on my shoulders and howled at me!

    yup! i live tiny!!

Benji sounds like he has some of bug's traits...she hates when i talk to people too unless i include her in the conversation somehow. If the person is holding a baby - i have to hold bug like a baby in order to keep her quiet. they are funny that way. Ben sounds super though! its just a shame he doesn't like cats.... maybe you should check though. I was doing a dog transport once and i had three dogs that i was told two of them hated other dogs. Turned out that one dog was just protecting everything and the other dog just wanted attention too so they were actually trying to out bark each other for attention and they actually were okay together when introduced properly. Maybe Benji's cat problem is being misintrepreted. Cuz it sounds like you two are getting ATTACHED!!

I'll check into it when I'm at the shelter today I plan on spending several hours with Benji and several training Piper. She was a little anxious during obedience because she doesn't get exposed to much like that being in the kennel all the time. I'm also going to spend a little time with Cotton, the dog I'm transporting, so he'll know me and not turn on me. He would have been euthanized most likely if this rescue group didnt offer to take him

I'll let ya know what happens with Benji and cats.

Cotton is a Llasa Apso who I am transporting to Dallas on Saturday. He is having aggression issues and growls at the staff whenever we pass by his kennel (he's in the pre-adopt area, can't be moved to adoption with his problems). A wonderful rescue group in Dallas has offered to take him so his life will be saved

Piper is a husky/rott mix that I'm taking through obedience. She's a wonderful, beautiful dog but people get scared of any rott mixes. When she's couped up in the kennels for so long, she gets so crazy. She jumps and barks this crazy high pitched bark. I'm trying to work a lot with her and in just the past 3 days I've had her out for hours at a time and she's calmed down a lot. Her first obedience class was a bit overwhelming so I'm going to work really hard with her all week to make the next one comfortable for her.

Here she is. You can't see how GORGEOUS her eyes are in this pic though. They are huge and piercing. The prettiest eyes I have ever seen:

She does this really cute thing when we're playing. Her tongue hangs out of the side of her mouth and then she shuts her mouth and you can still see the tip of the tongue hanging out the side She does it in the front sometimes too, just like Morgan the rott

I had a nice note this morning when I got to the shelter that Piper was adopted. The staff thanked me and said my hard work with her lately was very noticable as she has calmed down and the people who adopted her were very impressed. I've been the only one working with her because for some reason the volunteers and staff just didnt want to train her. She didn't even get taken out for potty as much as other dogs. I had her out of her kennel for hours on Friday. I bathed her, brushed her, and cut her nails. I walked her around a lot, trained her, sat under a tree with her, and tried to do a lot of things to ease her anxiety of being couped up all day. It worked because when I put her back in on Friday evening, she curled up with a toy and quietly played with it instead of jumping all around yelping and barking. I am so very proud of my Piper and I hope she's with people who love her like I do. I will miss her so much. I feel SO BAD though because I was in Dallas doing a transport when she got adopted and I couldn't say goodbye. I probably would not have let go of her leash had I had a chance to say bye though.

I will now be taking Banjo through obedience. He's a shepherd mix. I have no clue what he's mixed with. I will post a picture when we get one of him.

Aly you are such a great person! Think of how many dogs in this world are happy thanks to you? Great job with Piper and good luck with Banjo.
