Whew! A little bit of controversy underfoot ... how did I manage to miss this thread?

I agree with the underlying sentiment behind this topic - it is a matter of courtesty to ensure that your posts are legible to other readers.

It is rather ironic that, in a thread pertaining to the use of the English language, the idea behind this thread was misunderstood. Infrequent spelling and grammatical errors are not under fire here. The true source of irritation is those users who do not even bother adhering to spelling and basic punctuation rules in their threads. All that is required is an attempt to write clearly. As for our younger users, I applaud those who do write intelligently, and admire those with difficulties who make a true effort towards coherent writing.

That said, I feel I must apologise for some of the horrendous spelling and grammatical errors in my posts. It seems, as the years have trundled by, that I have developed a mild form of dyslexia that is rather troubling. Furthermore, as an Australian, many of our spelling rules differ to those of US English. One striking example is the spelling of "Mum." I tried to PM an American user with the word "Mum" in her username, only to find that I should have spelt it "Mom," lol!

Cali - you have the same right to express your opinion as everyone else. Enjoying this right means that you must extend the same courtesy, without being nasty, to other users such as Aly. This courtesty does not entail ranting on other boards about Aly and drawing our attention to it here!
