Spell-checking can be evil when it automatically changes the spelling. How can I learn to type the word correctly when the spell-check fixes my errors without my awareness.

Also, there are victims out there of teaching methods that emphasized sight-reading over learning to pronounce and sound out words. Both my husband and my brother suffered this indignity that has plagued them their entire adult lives.
