For the weekend he is staying in my niece's rooms in the basement. My niece and Turnip are off on break. When Debbie brought him over he used his litter box and had a bite to eat. Good boy!

Edwina hissed and growled at Debbie. Very embarrassing! Also, my niece and I will be having a conversation about proper dusting techinque. If Eddie is going to be under the furniture all the time I'd rather he not be covered with dust bunnies.

    Photos tomorrow (without dust bunnies!)
Could you come over here when you are done with her?

This is wonderful news!!! I was hoping to hear that Edwina was going to get a new brother. I sure hope that everything works out. I'm sure it will eventually because Eduardo looks like a real sweetheart and he'll probably still let Edwina rule the house.

Please can we have an update. I want to know how things are going.

Oh, yeah. You may find that your furkids may fight a little at the start. If there is no claws out, let them have it out. It helps them settle down faster.

Introducing George to Milly was the hardest intro but when I look back I see I made things worse. I used to rush over and pick up George everytime Milly slapped or hissed at him.

I have learnt if there is no blood, let the furkids sort things out on their own.

Though you may be lucky and have an dead easy intro (fingers crossed)

    Oh. Photos, Photos.

    What great news!

Another Pet Talk success story - Edwina and her new friend will be getting along nicely before you know it.

My old housemate adopted a second cat whilst I was living there. Like Eddie, the new cat Mini hid in the basement for ages. She also fought with the resident, Maxi. The two cats do not cuddle up to each other or anything like that, but they have learnt to tolerate each other and are usually quite civil. It just takes time.

Gosh, he's in your house! This is too exiting! It's just perfect that your niece and Turnip are away this weekend. I can hardly wait to hear how it's going and to see some pics - when you've finished playing with dustbunnies.

Sara, I hope you haven't been scratched too severely! Ouch! I bet Edwina is mad! What is all this fuss about a handsome boy who suddenly invades her premises and gets all the attention - we just can't have that!! I hope they'll get friendlier over the weekend - and you decide to keep him. He is such a sweetheart and I'm sure Edwina will come around eventually. They'lll keep each other company while you're at work.

    Waiting anxiously for pics!

  9. Update....or lack thereof...

I would post photos of Eduardo but....I haven't seen him!!! My huysband and I have crawled all around..through the dustbunnies, flashlight in hand...we can hear him but we can't see him! I have the screen porch all ready for him so he can have some sun light and fresh air but I can't find him>>..

Meanwhile...Edwina is refusing to acknowledge anything unusual going on.....

Oh dear! I hope he hasn't got stuck somewhere and can't get loose. I bet he'll come out when he gets hungry!

Edwina, now it's your turn, use all your charm, get him out of his hiding place and give him a nosekiss to make him feel welcome!

    Good luck cat hunting!

OMG, I have missed this thread completely!
Luckily, Randi told me about it today! As it is rather long, I printed it out completely, and read it while laying down on my couch Clever hey
Wow, what a great rescue story! Eduardo is a very very handsome boy! Oh, his colouring is just super!! Thanks for all the great pics; I just love that soft belly of his !

I hope you will be able to keep him, Sara. He is gorgeous, and his furr matches wonderfully with Princess Edwina's!! Oh please, Princess of the house, put on your nicest hat, and post in that basement, singing beautiful romantic cat-songs Handsome Eddie will be happy when he finally sees how well-behaved and good-looking you are !!

Nose-kissies to both Edwina and Eduardo!!

Come on, Eddie, come out come out wherever you are!

Have you found him yet? Hopefully he doesn't make himself too scarce. He is a little shy, so if he hasn't come out yet, if you sit quietly on the floor and call to him, he might come out. Worked for me anyway.

    In my opinion this
Meanwhile...Edwina is refusing to acknowledge anything unusual going on.....

is the best news yet! If she is just going about her daily business, she must not be bothered by the fact that there is another cat living in her basement.

Sara seemed a little embarrassed by the dust bunnies, but I think it's cute when kitties have cobwebs and dust bunnies stuck to their whiskers. Sometimes Tubby will come up from the basement with spiderwebs stuck to his whiskers, and I just laugh and ask him what sorts of goodies he found down there.

And Edwina is even cuter in person - even when she's hissing and shooting daggers from her eyes. I was holding Eduardo in the carrier and Sara picked up Edwina to see what kind of reaction she'd have. Nothing at first, but then all of a sudden the hissing and growling started. After that, even though Eduardo was safe in the basement, I think Edwina still associated me with him and that's why she hissed. She's so cute with her little harness on, with the bell on it that tinkles everytime she moves. I could here her tinkling on over to where we were standing when I first got there.

And as long as Edwina allows it, the only problem I could see having Eduardo there is that he might not know how to act in such fine surroundings! I'm sure it was probably art students that had him before (there's a lot of them in my neighborhood at work) so I'm sure his dwellings were typical grungy student apartment style, then he was in the alley, so a lovely house with a beautiful backyard and screen porch might be beyond his compression right now.

I'll be checking back tomorrow sometime, so I hope he appears and everything starts going a little more smoothly. Sara, you just gotta remember that he's shy and probably still scared, so patience and slow quiet movements are best right now until he gets a little more familiar with you, Don, Edwina and his surroundings. Good luck and Eddie....BEHAVE!
