E's S, there one way to find out the answer. She may be a princess, but, who knows, maybe Eduardo is a prince, Edwina's prince?

How I wish this could happen!!!

OMG, Sara! That would be sooo wonderful if you could take him. He's 11 lbs right now. He seems to be big boned, and will probably gain some weight once he is fed on a regular basis, but somehow I get the feeling that Edwina would put him in his place within the first few hours, and that will be the end of that. He seems to be real meek, but that could be because he is still scared. He has been hiding under the drafting table all morning. I finally coaxed him out for a little bit while my boss was here (first time my boss has seen him other than hiding). Eduardo warmed up to me, and when my boss knelt down, Eddie rubbed all over him, but as soon as my boss stood up, poor Eddie ran back under the table - scared. It's amazing to me that he survived on the streets at all. Everytime he is out, he slinks real low like he's ready to run everytime he hears a loud noise. And the noises are all street noises, which you would think he'd be familiar with.

I did send the Red Door people an email, haven't heard back from them yet. I've heard from Another Chance Pet Rescue - Elmhurst, Felines, Inc. - Chicago, Harmony House for Cats - Chicago, and Wright Way Rescue - Chicago. I do understand that most of the rescue orgs are inundated with unwanted pets so I'm not surprised I haven't heard from more of them, but I just emailed them yesterday too, so I'm surprised I've already received these 4 replies.

And as for Edwina accepting Eduardo, well, like Vio & Juni says, how will you know until you try? If you wanted to, I could drop him off Friday evening on my way home and you could do a "test run" over the weekend. If it looks like it'll work out, he can stay (?) and if not, I'll pick him up either Monday on my way to work or Monday evening depending on your hours. If it doesn't work out, Edwina will think it's just another irritating visitor (like her doggie buddies ) and get over it real quick, and if it works out, we'll have Princess Edwina and Prince Eduardo to dote over here at PT.

However, seeing as he seems to be rather shy/scared, if I bring him Friday evening, you might not see him all weekend and Edwina won't even know he's there.

It would be so wonderful if you could take him, but please know that I'm not trying to pressure you in anyway and I would understand completely if you decided against it....but if you ask anybody here at PT, Edwina definitely needs a friend, right everybody? (no pressure, yeah right!)

Boy, did I have things nailed down right from the beginning or what?

I would say the only thing I got wrong was the part about "that will be the end of that" since she still puts him in his place every chance she gets.

5 years on - thanks again, Sara, for taking a chance on a sweet loving boy, who has only gotten in.....oh....a smidgeon of trouble since coming "home."

We ALL think Edwina has been alone long enough and needs a new friend. Toby backs me on this one too.

I think it would be great if Edwina could have a new brother. I can just picture the two of them curled up together.
I think the weekend visit sounds like a good idea, keep up the good work with him T&P's mom!

Edwardo is a strong competition in the pink-nosie contest (the winner is Toby, of course).
    Try it Sara, try it

    Picture Time!

Needless to say, I haven't gotten a lot of work done yet today. But I have taken some pictures and am getting to know Eduardo better and better.

My boss is definitely a softie. Here's a "toy" he rigged up, hoping to get Eduardo to come out of his shell and play a bit. It didn't work because either Eduardo doesn't know how to play, or he is still unsure of himself in his new environment.

He started crawling out from under the table - doing tiny "happy feet" as he went.

Didn't get all the way out, but had a big yawn, and of course I only got the end of it, with a little bit of the Elvis look to him.

Then he started turning his head upside down like Tubby does - adorable.

Then rolled over and looked sweet. He really does remind me of K'Cee in this pic.

    More Pics!

I went to Petsmart during lunch and spent more money on him. I think I've spent more money on him in the last two days then I've spent on T & P in the last 10 years!

Since he does have his claws, I thought a catnip scratcher might be a good thing to make him feel more comfortable - and help him to not even get started on my bosses desk. My desk is metal so I wasn't worried about that. He adores the scratcher, and is laying on/by it right now, half falling asleep.

Oh, and I think he's a drooler because the cardboard looked a little wet when he got done. And I also bought a brush to help clean him up a bit, and I didn't realize it at the time, but my hand was a little wet when I got done brushing him.

It was then time for a bath. Yeah!

A nice big yawn (and again, I only got the end of it )

And then he got comfortable for a little more cleaning time.

Then the gas man came to the door, so I shooed him back into my boss's office so he wouldn't run out the door. He hid under the table again until the gas man was gone. Then I called to him and he answered - he's quite the talker. I kept calling and he kept answering, but wouldn't come out. So I peeked my head around the wall, and he was peeking his head out the door - sooo cute - but I didn't get a pic (drat!). He looked a lot like the very first pic I saw of him from the tenants. He did come out when he saw me, came over for some pets, then went back to his scratcher. After I wrote the part above about him laying on/by it, I turned around and this is what I saw.

The next time I looked, though, he was gone. Must have heard some noise that scared him, but I didn't even hear him go. So slow but sure he's warming up to me.

    TO: T&P and/or E's S.

I need you to look deep into these eyes:

Next, I need you to go down to my signature and take a moment and look into each and every one of my cats' eyes................Imagine them saying (in the most hypnotic voice)
"YOU WILL TAKE ME HOME..................YOU WILL TAKE ME HOME..................YOU WILL TAKE ME HOME.................YOU WILL TAKE ME HOME..................."

Now, who is going to weaken first???

What a gorgeous guy! Wish I could have a cat at my office! I hope he finds a good home soon! Good rescue job!
Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) is a full management plan in which stray and feral cats already living outdoors in cities, towns, and rural areas are humanely trapped, then evaluated, vaccinated, and sterilized by veterinarians. Kittens and tame cats are adopted into good homes. Healthy adult cats too wild to be adopted are returned to their familiar habitat under the lifelong care of volunteers
