We also have a Panasonic. I would go for the cheapest but my husband did all the research -- Consumer's Report, etc. and insisted on the Panasonic. SUPPOSEDLY, the suction is such that it will hold a bowling ball....(I haven't validated that....)

It does do a nice job -- especially compared to the cheapy I had before and has lasted 6 or 7 years and is still going strong!
