uh hum, lol I too aquired my pair from the wild, but it was an accident. I was out looking for Natterjack toads while living in Murrieta California and they were the only two around, and were in an imbrace together. They were just so cute and tiny that I took them home to study them. They are not an endangered species, but they are threatened. Yes I did need to aquire a permit. Just contact your local Fish and Wildlife committee.

I used to be REALLY into frogs and toads and have owned several during my life. I just love them!

I'm glad to hear you are catching flies too. That's great! Just make sure you mist them twice a day, because they dry out really fast. Does he have a water dish?
