I think that's pretty cool, but I don't understand why they didn't leave it in the pond.
I would assume because they didn't want it to fall victim to predators, not being able to pull its heads into its shell like a normal turtle would.
I'm glad someone saved that poor little turtle. Two-headed critters really freak me out, though. When I was a small child, my grandparents took me to this museum in Kansas that had, among other horrifying oddities, a stuffed two-headed calf. I had nightmares for years, literally. I've also seen a two-headed lizard. Creepy, creepy, creepy.
Now, the things with extra legs don't really bother me. I saw a picture of a four legged duck once ... that wasn't too creepy.
