My very first thought was, All things happen for a reason. And this very kind gesture is here for a reason. It was just plain meant to be. So, stop beating yourself up, and worrying is it too soon. And go for it. I bet all things work out fine. You will know deep in your heart if the time is right. and I also agree, papers are here nor there, when it comes to loving animals.
