Yes, he's on metronidazole...today is his last day on the meds.

I'm so glad to hear they finally found a reason. I hope that nasty bacterium (or whatever it is) is killed now.
Poor Micah. And again that breeder

If Micah does have Giardia then it might require more than one course of metronidazole to get rid of it.

We are keeping our fingers and paws crossed that another course of Flagyl or something stronger will take care of it for him.

I called the vet on my way home on Friday and she said to keep giving him the metronidazole twice a day and once he has two days of normalcy, to wean him off the Science Diet I/D. The thing is, he's never had a normal BM.

Aby "owners"....please let me know, do your Aby's ever have a "normal" BM??

I want to call the vet again. How do they know if the Giardia is gone? Do they have to do another fecal test?

Oh dear...was hoping he'd be over the runs by now. When we first got our 2 abys my male Bodhi had runny loose stools for about a month before it settled down. He's been fine ever since. But he is more high-strung and jumpy than Maya. He's a big wuss a.k.a scardey cat. He also grooms himself more than Maya and I'm keeping an eye out for bare patches. We switched him from Science Diet to dry Wysong , which uses human grade quality food and Innova also a premium human grade wet food. Both foods have no additives and preservatives. Good luck and keep us posted. Micah is such a sweetie pie. Is he getting along with the others ? Oh yes, I also gave some plain low fat yoghurt once a day with his meal. This is supposed to help as well.

Plain yogurt, that sounds like a great idea, thank you!

Thanks for the food advice as well. I'll have to check that out. I also need to get to the heathfood store for some Grapefruit Seed Extract that Nakita's meowmee recommended. I think it'll be a good thing for both of us.

He is getting along with the others. He's never been the problem, he LOVES other cats. I just wish they wouldn't be so stuck up about it. Basie is the only one that will allow him to groom him and lay with him.

He's a huge lover boy. I awoke this morning at about 3ish to see him spooning with me under the covers!!! Isn't that CUTE???

The only problem is that my Basie is really put off by him loving HIS mommy! If Basie is with me and Micah comes by and wants love, Basie walks away.

Why was he turned in to the shelter?

Kelly, didn't you post something early on about Micah having problems and that was why he was being turned over to the shelter?

    Try this web site.

As I have metioned before, I would contact an Aby breeder. They know exactly what to look for when it comes to problems with their cats. They are usually more than helpful.

Good idea Sas. With Prattly's poo problem it was purely stress related. With a change of diet and some R and R he was fine again.

I hope everything goes well for Micah.

Aby's are really gorgeous cats to have definately Lover boys for sure!
