I love German Shepards - my sister has one right now - and one that recently passed away. She loves the breed and plans to get another soon. McGyver (the one that passed away) was one of the smartest dogs I have ever seen - it would take him about 10 minutes to learn a new command and many times he would figure things out on his own.
One time my brother-in-law sneezed and made the comment when McGyver was looking at him "I have a tingle nose". After that one time all my brother in law had to say was tingle nose and McGyver would lick his nose.
He was an amazing dog. My brother-in-law taught him to fetch a can of beer for him - open doors - all types of things. When I would go over to their house, he would bark furiously until he realized it was me and then get that happy bark they have. I miss him so much.
