I'm against most zoos because I don't like to see animals locked in a cage. I've seen big lions in little cages at zoos and it just makes me sad. I know there are lots of zoos that do their best in trying to make the proper habitat for the animals and do their best to keep them happy and keep them from being endangered, but the monkeys, lions, bears, etc. in a cage or very small area make me sad to see. Its not like our pets because these animals are wild and not domesticated. They don't know the love of a human or the safety of a house. They are wild animals with a wild mind and they are confined to little cages. While I understand how much zoos are needed to breed endangered species, I'd rather support wild animal safari parks, where animals are free, yet secure and open to be seen by the public at the same time. I LOVE safaris!
When we went to visit my uncle in England a few years back, he took us to this awesome safari park. We drove through a forest like area with lions 1 foot away from our car! (You take your own car in there). I put my face against the window when my uncle stopped the car in the lion area, and a lion came right next to the car and was staring RIGHT at me! He looked so sweet and not vicious at all. LOL My dad said he wanted to open the car door and pet the lion, but of course we would never let him! There are rangers in the park the whole time just in case an animal attacks a car or something, but it never happens. The monkey area was also really cool. We drove in, and a group of 7 monkeys jumped on top of our car! One of them even pooped on it. My uncle wasn't too happy about that. Before entering the giraffe area, we were given food by the rangers to feed them. When we got inside, we opened our windows, and the giraffes just stuck their heads in the car to get the food. I think safaris are the best. I get so happy when I go to safaris, but zoos just make me sad.
