It's great having 2 dogs, however, your current baby must be ok with this and some dogs would not be. That's up to you to figure out, you and your family knows him best and if you have seen that he's dog agressive or nippy or crabby with other dogs, it may be hard to introduce a new pup. Let me give you a few pros and cons, considering he's been proven good with other dogs:
some pros:
** Dogs keep each other company while their beloved humans have left them alone.
** dogs grow very attached to each other, and a little less needy towards their humans for playtime.
** dogs wear each other out, often becoming trimer and slimer because they get alot of excersise playing with each other.
** dogs are often more happy and comfortable in their home with another pooch in their pack (depending on the dog of course)
some cons:
** It's hard to tell which dog did something bad.
** the original family dog may have some jealousy issues for awhile, depending on the dog, it may last a couple/few weeks, or it may always be an issue.
** depending on how dominant Simba is, you may have some dominance battles (I have never had this happen but it's not all that uncommon)
** if your dogs are not well trained to walk on a leash without pulling, it may make walking hard for just one person.
