Back in college I was driving an ole junker volkswagon bug, which had a hole in the back floorboard. I was headed home, driving on the freeway, with the window rolled down, on a day where we’d had a lot of rain. I came off the freeway doing about 60 mph onto the feeder street, not the wisest of speeds even on a bright sunshiny day, but it's really not advisable on rainy days. Especially in Houston, where it floods at the drop of a hat. You’d of thought living in Houston all my life, I’d have been more aware of this fact, but I was too busy bee bopping along to the music on the radio, to notice that the feeder street was quite flooded.

It probably would have been shock enough just to hit the water going that fast, but I barely had time to register that fact, when a wave of water broke over my head, coming from the hole in the back floorboard and another wave came crashing in on me from the window. I was drenched from head to toe. Looked like a drowned rat, but unharmed as I floated across the water to dry land and drove on home.
