same here. Jan didn't have one. She was too groggy at first to care, and then she didn't bother her stitches. Just depends on both the vet and the cat.

One thing that this vet did that I hadn't heard of before was to offer, for an additional fee, to give her some extra painkillers before sending her home with us. We did that.
