Scabies in humans is caused by a parasitic mange mite. It is easily transmitted from dogs where it causes sarcoptic mange which can be highly distressing for the dog. The sarcoptic mite burrows under the skin, and is very small, so a skin scraping will have to be taken by your vet. This can then be viewed under a microscope to confirm if your dog is in fact the source of infection.
