well, I would check with the vet first, but mineral oil was the advice I was given once, when a cat of mine had very, very hard stools, and it worked. It sorta coated the stool and made it much easier to pass. Like I said, check with you Vet. This is not advice.

Also, can you be really sure he ate it? I did watch Miley eat (with a great deal of vigor, I must admit) a wad of yarn.....maybe the size of a medium sized button and I am sure she will pass it someday soon. I am not worried as it was a wad as opposed to a length of yarn..... I saw her with it and she ran, jumped on top of a door where I could not reach her, and then swallowed it!

My guess is that Sterling will pass it easily, but I would give him some hairball goopie stuff for sure.
