THE GREATEST PEER
[In memory of the beloved Great Pyrenees rescuer and talented writer Joan C. Fremo]

The dogs of the Pyrenees Mountains,
Are noble, loyal and grand,
And they had as their champion a woman,
Whose name was known throughout her land.

Her efforts for them were legend,
In her they had no greater friend,
And they mournfully howled and wept,
That her Earthly days should end.

Like her namesake, an unlikely savior,
"Saint Joan" battled with love, not sword,
She pleaded for compassion,
And inspired many with her words.

All Heaven was there to greet her,
Escorted by many a loved Great Pyr,
And the jewels in her crown, they sparkled,
In recognition that she had no peer.

In deepest sympathy to her family and friends, and I was blessed to
count myself among them. Our loss was Heaven's gain.
