Here's Duke, the Yooper Dog! (NOTE to non-Michiganders: Yoopers are inhabitants of the Upper Peninsula, or "U.P.") Dearest Duke, What a gorgeous Husky, German Shepherd, Bloodhound, Rhodesian Ridgeback mix guy you are! You are so good-looking in both of those great photos, and thank you for sharing them with us. You look so comfortable, and you have such a sweet face with the look of love in those lovely big dark eyes. I wish I could reach through the screen and up to Calumet to pet you, and pet your doggie and kitty housemates, too! I can't, of course, but I know your loving and beloved people will pet you all for me
.
And what a delightful personality you have, too! You love to play all day with your doggie and kitty housemates. You especially love the winter, when your Husky side really comes out. You get so excited when the snows come and you can pull people on bobsleds! You enjoy meeting people at your family's cabin and going to the mountains and the beach to take lots of walks. You and your dear people all love each other very much, don't you. What a wonderful love-filled home you share!
Congratulations, darling Duke, on being chosen today's Dog of the Day! We hope you and your dear people and doggie and kitty housemates and all your family and friends are enjoying a fine celebration, full of fun and lovies and all your favorite games and treats.

I meant," said Ipslore bitterly, "what is there in this world that truly makes living worthwhile?"
Death thought about it.
CATS, he said eventually. CATS ARE NICE.
