Yes, A Suitable Boy is quite a good read if you can get past some of the political and governmental detailed stuff. My aunt read the book first and she told me about it because she knows how much I love the Indian culture. She said that she actually skipped through some of the more boring stuff to get to the good stuff...like who Lata is going to end up with! HA! If you like detail, then no problem. If not, then just skip the boring parts because you won't get lost in the storyline if you do.
