Our weather in central NC is crazy up & down. Yesterday it was 38 high, today's high was 70 (normal would be 55), tomorrow 45 & dropping temps and tomorrow night we could have a freezing mix (sleet, fr rain, snow). Friday it is supposed to be in the 50's which is normal for here this time of year. Today's 70 felt so good!!

Today it was a melting day (reprise of the ditty*) as it was well above freezing, it got all the way up 42°F () but it is now dropping and will go back down to 25°F tonight, so all the puddles that happened today will become skating rinks! And stay that way ... this was apparently a one-off!

9 degrees? Wow. It's very nice down here. Hopefully it will stay that way for a while. We've been known to skip Spring altogether and go right to summer. Knock on Wood.

It is now above freezing 34°F (1°C) and raining! It was up to 46°F earlier, but went back down as soon as the sun started to go down. We'll see how much of a dent these next couple days make in the snowbanks! The ground is still frozen solid, so not much water will be absorbed even where the snow is gone.

Normally the crocuses are blooming and the daffodils and tulips are well-sprouted by now...not this year. Whenever we get a day above 40F it rains. Like today. It's supposed to be cold again this weekend. No true snowpack anymore, but plenty of snow in shaded areas, and yes, the dreaded black snowbanks!

Going down to 14* tonight and supposed to snow. I knew winter wasn't really over yet.

Kay, did you see the thread yesterday about the Giant Snow Cat in Archdale, NC? - http://petoftheday.com/talk/showthre...Giant-Snow-Cat!
I meant," said Ipslore bitterly, "what is there in this world that truly makes living worthwhile?"
    Death thought about it.
CATS, he said eventually. CATS ARE NICE.
