    Dreamed I was an Eskimo
    Frozen wind began to blow
Under my boots and around my toes
The frost that bit the ground below
It was a hundred degrees below zero

    And my mama cried
    And my mama cried
    Nanook, a-no-no
    Nanook, a-no-no
    Don't be a naughty Eskimo
Save your money, don't go to the show

Well I turned around and I said oh, oh oh
Well I turned around and I said oh, oh oh
Well I turned around and I said ho, ho
And the northern lights commenced to glow
And she said, with a tear in her eye
Watch out where the huskies go, and don't you eat that yellow snow
Watch out where the huskies go, and don't you eat that yellow snow

Does this answer the question? Yes, those are all footy prints in the snow - squirrels. birds, and even Ilsa - a baby bunny that has been coming by lately - we've only seen her once, but she often leaves tracks!

Okay, technically, it is relatively warm, +19°F but the sun does not reach that spot, just the wind!

I live at the bottom of a gradual hill and the road goes up across and down again, The most entertaining thing is to watch cars TRY to navigate up and over.

A red dually truck came by fishtailing it's way up the hill, he finally had to make a U and come back down.

I started to come inside when the lady next door came around the corner, so we BOTH stood there and laughed at him.

17F with a wind chill of 6F, but it is supposed to be at least that cold or colder for the rest of the week in Chicagoland. It looks like a week for a heavy coat, hat, mittens and lots of layers of clothes. It's 84F in Australia today, wish I could just board an airplane and go! I heard on the radio that the starting point for the Iditarod (sp?) race was moved three hundred miles away from where they had planned it, because of not enough snow. The announcer joked that they have enough snow in Massachusetts for the race right now

The average high for Chicago in mid-February is around 35-38F. Tomorrow the forecast is for a high of 10F (brrrrr!) and Thursday 2F. Then it's back up into the 20s with snow for the weekend. The groundhog saw his shadow and we have definitely had a few more weeks of winter since then.

It's 80F and sunny in St. Thomas, USVI today, wish I was there!

In Butler, Pa the regular temp was 0 degrees this morning with the windchill at about 20 degrees below zero. All is not lost, however. The high today will be a balmy 6 degrees!

How cold is it where I am?

    -----

The local government has held new pressers to keep people informed as to what services - snow removal, plowing and schools - are being affected.

There has been no school since last Friday and the school superintendent has been at the broadcasts letting parents know there is no school scheduled for the next few days.

One day she asked the kids 'to read anything' while they were at home.

Yesterday, she said something about "mukluks".

As the Mayor came back to the lectern, he looked around and said, "I don't know what 'mukluks' are....."

Back at the TV station, the anchors said, "MUKLUKS?"

They cut back to the Mayor and when his spiel was over, the male anchor said, "I looked up 'mukluks' and all I found was something about a seal skinned Eskimo boot!".

    -----

I was laughing my butt off during all of this and yelling at the screen, "MUKLUKS ARE COLD WEATHER BOOTS!!!"

Here I am, a SoCal kid, grew up in 70 degree, year round weather and I knew what 'mukluks' are?

That is how cold it is!!!!!!
