Sooo happy Lucy found such a good home. As a volunteer with cat rescues for 15 years it is true that there are more black cats at shelters and rescues than any other color. People are (believe it or not) still superstitious. Weird thing is one of the reasons cats are abandoned is that they shed (a simple brushing would help but people are "too busy"...). You would think that considering so many people often wear black, a black cat would even be practical huh. But no. I had a beautiful black kitty named Shadow when I was a little girl and one day I will have another. I have two orange kitties now and have had a brown tabby also. Color is not really a consideration when I choose but I must admit that when I lose a kitty to Rainbow Bridge I am less inclined to adopt one who resembles that kitty, at least not for awhile. Too sad. So bless you for adopting a black cat and hopefully one day this will not be an issue.
