I have two friends who are in difficult situations. A friend from high school is moving her father into a memory care center next week. He is forgetful and at times gets angry because of all that he can't remember. A friend from college e-mailed me that her mother entered hospice care a few days ago and isn't expected to live very long. Two long time friends and my heart aches for both of them.
Praying for peace in the Middle East, Ukraine, and around the world.

Prayers for your friends, Elyse, and their family members who need them.
I meant," said Ipslore bitterly, "what is there in this world that truly makes living worthwhile?"
Death thought about it.
CATS, he said eventually. CATS ARE NICE.

False Killer Whale Calf Rescued – Still Fighting for Its Life

Josie Osborne, the mayor of Tofino, B.C., uploaded this photograph of the juvenile false killer whale to Facebook on Thursday. The animal was stuck after washing ashore near a popular beach in the area. (Josie Osborne/Facebook)
Vancouver, British Columbia – According to workers at the Marine Mammal Rescue Centre of the Vancouver Aquarium, the false killer whale calf found struggling for its life on the shores of the Vancouver Island city of Tofino has survived the night, but an uphill battle still remains if it is to survive, reports the CBC.
Initially, rescuers thought to take the calf to deeper waters where it would be able to swim away to safety, but upon seeing that it was too weak to do that contacted staff at the aquarium who decided to take it to their facility for intensive care.

Its proper gender wasn’t determined as being male until the first night as dedicated staffers took turns dawning wetsuits to keep the calf floating above the water of the rehab pool housing it. As per Martin Haulena, the aquarium’s head veterinarian, the difficulty that lies ahead with the calf, which he described as being in critical condition, relates to disconcerting drops in the mammal’s respiratory and heart rates. Thus far, staff have performed diagnostic tests on it and are caring for it with the aim of having it gain weight. By their estimates, this calf is very young have been born no more than six weeks ago. Haulena also confirmed that the calf hasn’t the strength to swim on its own.
For now, the calf is in a rehab pool better suited to support its small size. It is being nourished on a mixture of specially designed formula for its sort of marine mammal, along with other fluids and antibiotics. Given that the calf has not yet developed teeth, Haulena said it was still nursing from its mother. Odds are against the calf surviving. Adding to the difficulty is that there is little global experience caring for stranded false killer whales much less one as young as this one.

A couple I know have a son who was adopted when he was a baby. He has grown up with ADD and the parents finally tried meds after trying every other option. He can manage fine.
He was 16 and his GF moved in with the whole family as her home life was not very good. She was expecting though very few people were told.
I got back Tuesday morning from my cousin's inurnment and was checking obits for another friend who had passed away, and I got a shock. The wee baby girl, after kicking and everything for the past few months, was born full term - but still born.
I can't imagine this pain except it must resemble being ripped in half.
Prayers, please, for the expectant grandparents, aunts and uncles, and the young parents themselves. There was solid family support and that baby would have wanted for nothing, especially love.
Thank you.

Candace, there are no words that can come close to explain the intense pain along with so many other thoughts and feelings parents feel at the loss of their child at birth. I only wish there was something I could say or do that would comfort them at this tragic and difficult time. If I may ask, when you see them please extend my deepest heartfelt sympathy on a parent's hardest loss and assure them they are in my prayers. The entire family will be placed on our prayer list at church.
