Sequoia is so beautiful, I'm sorry you're havnig to make such hard decisions for her. She is lucky to have such a loving human family.
Hugs to precious Sequoia. If you change your mind about surgery, check out Glacier/Tamara's thread about Heyoka. http://petoftheday.com/talk/showthre...heyoka+surgery
The surgery gave Heyoka 2 or 3 more good years before he died of lymphoma. I don't think Glacier visits Pet Talk much anymore, but you might find her on Facebook.

Heyoka passed away at the end of 2013. http://wanderingspiritskennels.blogspot.com/
Ask your vet about microchipping. ~ It could have saved Kuhio's life.
I'm so sorry to hear about Sequoia. My RB dog Rocky had lymphoma and I remember how difficult it was to accept when the time had come to let him go. His last night I lay beside him holding his head up all night because otherwise he couldn't breathe. I would have willingly done that for ever but realized this was not a life he would want. There'll come a point when you too will realize that Sequoia is no longer enjoying life and the only kind thing to do it to let her go.
I just wanted to let people know she is doing better. We have tried many different treatments and nothing was working. This as far as we know isn't cancer or caused by a growth or tumor. We do not really know the cause. I read on another message board about using higher doses of Benadryl. So in a last ditch effort we started her on 50mg twice a day. Our vet said we could even add in a third dose if we felt we needed to. Her panting has eased up a good bit though she still has moments. However, she also has moments of NOT panting so this is good. She is a little dopey and tends to sleep deeply but she is enjoying life more. We know this is short lived after watching the progression for over a year but it is something.
Oh, that's good! Maybe if this continues to work, you should keep us updated. Bendryl is not strong enough for my allergies, so I take an even stronger antihistamine that I get compounded - if you want, I can tell you what that is if your vet thinks it might be allergy related.
