Should Shelter Cats Become Office Intern Cats?

I always have known bookstore cats, and although I am highly allergic to cats, appreciate their presence. That said, my cat allergy would preclude me from working anywhere with an office cat, as cats know I adore them but tend not to understand that I need to do so from a distance, not on my lap!
