A giant snow globe
Right outside of my window
Am I all shook up?

That summer weather
So far off at this moment
Who turned off the sun?

Giddy anticipation
Coloring their speech

Children start wishing
For a snow day tomorrow
Parents, meanwhile, cringe

Snow in the morning
The world gone white and still, pale
Sky descends in flakes

Time stops in a storm
Directionless whiteness makes
Sundials mute, useless

dog and cat take turns lounging,

Dog makes trip outdoors
Feet cold fur wet with water.
Look out, yellow snow!

Wondering if that's where the "breaking the ice" conversation term comes from, as on a morning after a storm people you never usually counter are all outside at the same time, literally breaking up ice and shoveling snow!
