Slick, I’m so very sorry you had to say goodbye to Merlin, I know how it hurts.

Merlin was so lucky to be able to spend his last years with you, being loved and cared for like a Prince. He could not have found a better home. Not many would take in an older kitty, but you did, and I can see why you couldn’t resist him - such a sweet boy, he was.

Slick, I’m sure that when you felt Merlin walk across your chest, it was his way of telling you he arrived safely. He is now free of pain and surely getting to know the kitties at the RB, who went there before him - and you will keep him in your heart forever.

    Rest in peace, dear Merlin!

Sending you love and big ((((hugs))))

I believe that Merlin was also telling you that he is always near you. He loves you too.

I’ve been back to read some Merlin threads. Loved them! What a sweet boy he was!!

    Here’s his coming home thread:

And here, some wonderful pictures, where he helps Slick organize her linen cupboard:

Rest in peace, dear Merlin - you were so loved!

Sparkler told me, of COURSE that was Merlin walking across your chest!
I meant," said Ipslore bitterly, "what is there in this world that truly makes living worthwhile?"
    Death thought about it.
CATS, he said eventually. CATS ARE NICE.

Oh, Slick, OF COURSE THAT WAS MERLIN. Merlin is magic, isn't he? Our loved ones may die, but our love for each other never does.

For sure Slick, that was Merlin letting you know he is ok. He was probably not only thanking you for your love and care, he was checking up on you. Love never dies. It just changes form.

Did not sleep much last night. Kept second guessing myself and someone today commented that I will have to change my phone outgoing message as it's no longer "Merlin's private line." I think it will be some time before I can do that. My spare bedroom looks so empty without both litter boxes. My local shelters are screaming for foster homes but I remind myself that I'm not ready yet - can't help but look though.

Thank you again everyone for your love and prayers. I know that almost all of you have experienced the pain of losing a precious pet. That's what makes PT so special.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand and strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming WOO HOO - What a Ride!

You'll know when it's time; don't push yourself. One day a kitty will need a home and you will need a kitty and Merlin will bless the union. Until then, smile at the good memories you've had w/him and be good to yourself.
    Blessings,
    Mary
