I've had an HP Photosmart (print/scan/copy) for about 3 years and never had a problem with it. Of course I don't use it a tremendous amount either. My son had the same one - he bought them at the same time - and he had to replace it in less than a couple of years. He bought an HP Deskjet, and so far, no problems with it at all. They are so inexpensive anymore, that I personally can't see buying a high end one for as little as I use one. I've seen a set of cartridges that cost almost what an inexpensive printer does.
