I got my car washed yesterday, when it was 38F and sunny. It stayed clean for less than twelve hours. It's been raining almost all day and now it is snowing. So the word I'd use tonight is sloppy. It's 32F now and sloppy out. Yuk.

We've got another Alberta clipper (Candace, please keep them there!) right now, with about 3-4 inches of snow.
That's heading east to join up with the other storm traveling up the East Coast, which will produce that Nor'easter predicted later today for the northeast coast, in particular the Providence and Boston areas.
All you folks affected by this, please keep warm and safe! Prayers and best wishes that you all get through it safely.

Rain rain go away, I want to see it snow today!
But it ain't gonna happen. Just heavy rain and wind - a mini Sandy. Might see a little snow fall much later, but with the ground so wet and not frozen, nothing will stick.
I want THIS - like we had a few years ago.........
Haven't had a decent snow since.

The Pittsburgh area is dodging a bullet as far as this blizzard is concerned. We're to get a lot of rain today and this afternoon (for the rush hour yuck!) turn into freezing rain and 1" of snow overnight. My thoughts and prayers are for the PTers and everyone in the target zone of this SNOWZILLA!

What's this with naming every storm that comes along now???This Nor'easter is named Nemo. I thought only hurricanes (and typhoons) were important enough to get a name. I wonder who came up with this brilliant idea?

The Weather Channel came up with the idea, basically for communication. They contend that naming winter storms raises awareness and improves communication. The biggest winter storms get nicknames afterward anyway -- people in Chicago are still talking about the Blizzard of '67; the Weather Channel's Web page cites "Snowmageddon". But I think it will take time for "name that winter storm" to catch on.What's this with naming every storm that comes along now???
