Oh no, I am so sorry to hear this. I will keep you and Bartie in my thoughts. At least he is in the best home ever for his last years.
Our goal in life should be - to be as good a person as our dog thinks we are.

Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!

it's difficult watching them get old and their good health fail them. Hugs to you and Bartie.

Myndi will be 17 next week. Amazing and sad at the same time.

Oh Donna, I feel your pain and fully understand all that you are feeling having been there with Rascal.
You have my prayers and of course, Bartie does as well.

Donna, I'm so sorry to hear this. It's so hard to watch our pets get older. When my old boy Storm went downhill, I just couldn't bare to watch it any more so I knew that it was time. I hope that you're able to make Bartie as comfortable as possible. Lots of prayers and positive thoughts are being sent his way. Please take care. (((HUGS)))

Prayers coming for both you and Bartie. I can add nothing to what all the others have said except this: whatever happens, Bartie is yours forever and always; the love you give to him has ensured that. Remember: death is not an end at all; it is merely the transition to a beautiful form of life we are not yet permitted to know. When "the day" comes, you will be consumed with grief and pain, but Bartie will pass into a glorious life, perfectly healthy and blissfully happy. Try to think of that. Cry for yourself all you need to, but force a smile, no matter how slight, for Bartie. (The most beautiful smiles are those that must break through tears.) May Bartie's Creator bless you with the faith, the courage, and the strength you will need.

I am so sorry to hear about Bartie. I am totally with you when you say that you don't want a biopsy. we had one done with Tigris ( who was only 13 then) but he never recovered from it as it was major surgery and he had to go one week later. He would have been more comfortable if we hadn't done it
All the best for you and Bartie.

Very sad news, and no correct decision to be had. I hope the time you have left, no matter the length, is precious.

Bartie also has hyperthyroidism and high blood pressure. Thank you guys for being there for me. It means a lot. I pray that he'll go peacefully in his sleep.

I meant," said Ipslore bitterly, "what is there in this world that truly makes living worthwhile?"
    Death thought about it.
CATS, he said eventually. CATS ARE NICE.
