Amen! It is certainly alive and well on this thread!

The last few years increases in pay have not been huge...ranging from none (and some cuts in pay!) to 3%. I don't see many companies doing more than 3%.

And the employee contribution to group insurance has gone up.

So it isn't much different for the employed than it is for those on social security!

I am self-employed. I never know what I will make from one month to the next. Last year I had two months in which I had no billable hours. Zero. Nada. Zilch.

I have one client that has been paying the same $$ for my services for over ten years....good thing I like them very much

That's just what was tried this go round & it didn't work. People aren't as dumb as some believe them to be. Poor maybe, but dumb, no way.

The GOP candidate for VP lost with Rommey, but still won his seat in Congress back in his home state of Wisconsin.
I didn't know he could run for two offices at the same time. Sounds somewhat illegal to me.

Wisconsin allows it, which is most likely why he accepted the veep nod in the first place.

And similar, if not quite the same...Sarah (can't spell her name right) Palin did not have to give up being governor of Alaska when she ran for veep. Instead she quit a while later.

But I had the same reaction. I would have been really annoyed if I was his opponent and he had become veep. I am sure the governor of Wisconsin would have gotten to name his replacment to the House instead of it going to his opponent.

You can walk for office, they usually don't move, unless you live in California?
