I agree with Ben E Gas, not all pet stores can be blamed for the practices of one chain.

Near my house are 2 PetSmarts and a Petco. PetSmart is our favorite place to go. People there are nice and our pets like that place. (Our dog didn't even mind his recent grooming, even though it involved a bath. )

Two cats that we have, we got from pet adoptions at PetSmart. The person we adopted one from even called later to see how she was doing. To me, that shows he cared about her well-being.
