My parents have one. I am not sure of any specifics, but they bought it to put old home videos onto DVDs. I will have to ask them of where they got it. I believe it was Costco, but I could be wrong. We were able to watch the original Star Wars VHS on it recently which was AWESOME.

Yes, VCR's are outdated. I didn't even know they still sold them.

Yes, VCRs are somewhat dated, however, there are a whole bunch of people (myself included) who don't feel like buying a ton of movies on DVD to replace the VCR collection, and in some cases those movies aren't available.

We have a sony DVD/VCR which has lasted for quite a while, however, it appears to be no longer made.

    Okay, just asked my parents.

They've had a year already and they are happy with it. They bought it at Wal-mart for about $200-$250, I just don't know about the brand. They mostly brought it to transfer VHS to DVD and they saved so much money because of it. But we also have a lot of movies on VHS, and it is nice to have.

    Walmart appears to have them:

Getting them transferred over to DVDs would be a good thing, too, as VCR tapes DO wear out over time, and DVD is a more stable medium!

The cost involved in that would be horrendous. Freedom has 100s...best bet would be too find a cheap used VCR some place, and buy one DVD at a time, as they break. Though, in the 30 years I have had tapes? None have broken. LOL. Some of my favorite work out tapes are on VCR format...anyone remember the original Reebok Step? Gosh I love that thing!

I remember when Massachusetts did not have a sales tax. Going into Filene's Bargain Basement, purchasing an item for 99˘ - no tax

Really?? Even I don't remember that.

I love living in the tax free state of Delaware. On the rare occasions that I do travel out of state and happen to make a purchase - it really throws me off. The only sales tax we pay here is a one time tax on the purchase of a motor vehicle, and that is based on the price of it. We also have no luxury or personal property tax.

I have VCR tapes of my kids growing up. I no longer have a working VCR either. I would love to watch the movies of them when they were little again.
