You were lucky (this time!), that it turned out as it did, as it could have turned very ugly - very fast. You really should consider some formal training for him, now that you know what he is capable of, before someone - or Braggo - gets hurt. You may think/say "it will never happen again", but this is just turning your head to a potentially serious issue that very well could happen again at any time.

Good for you, Braggo for listening to your dad! I am glad it all turned out okay! But you know what, I think I'm with pomtzu on the suggestion of training classes. I wouldn't want Braggo going after another person in his efforts to defend you, and have that escalate into a more difficult situation. If some training classes would help to prevent that, all I can think is it would make an already good dog all the better

Edited to add: I like this picture so much! Braggo, you're so handsome! Please have your dad give you a hug for me

I'm sure Tim'll plan to do more training with Braggo now, as the shelter told him he had no aggressive/protective instincts so the whole thing was a surprise. But at least Braggo knew his Dad well enough that he listened when Tim said "no bite!"
