Kersey, dear girl
Sweet as brown sugar and
Pretty as could be,
Coat of golden brown hues and dark
Eyes like liquid chocolate that
Could melt the hardest heart
Your battle is done,
The pain forever gone.
But your presence here on earth
Will always live on
Not just in the myriad golden hairs you've woven
Into your family's home
But in all the hearts you have touched
Even those of humans you never met in person.
Deep and lasting are the paw prints
You have made on your momma's hearts
And we know your skin kids Quinn and Vincent
For they were as much yours as anyone
Will grow to be good, strong people
And as kind to dogs as you were to them
Even when they were tiny grasping babies.
You have said goodbye down here, we know
But your legacy of love will live on
Dare I say for generations to come.
Cancer does not win, death does not triumph
Love, dear Kersey, love lives on
And now your family will have another furry angel
Watching over them with a Shepherd's care
Until the day when you meet again,
Happy and whole at the Rainbow Bridge
