This is really interesting, and fun to play around with.

I entered one with 8 letters and one number, and it would only take 1 month 17 days to crack. By inserting a period at 2 different locations, it changed it to 75 centuries. Amazing.

What's interesting is how clever it is. If I used the word "first' and replaced it with "f1rst", it doesn't really slow it down much. Use an acronym like kp.co_fgs1 with a few non-alphanumeric characters and it takes decades to decipher. Of course, if I were a scientist, I wouldn't use that one anyway.
