Yes, it's normal. I lost my Shadow in 1990 and I never got to say goodbye to him or do I know where they buried him, either.... Was very painful and I still cry when I think about him..... I LOVE Louie to pieces and think of him as my son but, Shadow was my "Heart" dog.
