You and my son must have come from the same mold - this is him to a T. He's impossible to buy for, since when he wants something, he just goes out and buys it. He too is banned from buying anything for at least a month before Christmas. His birthday is a week from Saturday and what have I gotten him??? - not a thing yet and I am clueless. Maybe the new shop vac that he needs - if he doesn't beat me to it. His wife and kids are wracking their brains too, since Father's Day is the day after his birthday!

What is happening??? I am again in agreement with LH!

I buy my own underwear - I like gifts that I would not buy for myself. And that is the type of gift I like to give. I do not give gift cards. I do not exchange gifts that others give me. I think when someone gives me a gift they are giving me a bit of themselves. And I appreciate the gift for what is represents as well as for what it is.

And before certain someone(s) flame me - that is just how I feel and I am not criticizing anyone else...

Hey ES - whatever floats your boat............

Seriously tho - I used to like to get those gifts of something that I wouldn't buy for myself too - like those diamond earrings maybe, or some other nice piece of jewelry, etc. But when you get OLD like I am, and retired, then most of that jewelry is seldom worn, and all the nice shoes and handbags are replaced with sandals or athletic shoes and a hobo bag, the nice suits and slacks and skirts are replaced with jeans or sweats, or tank tops and capris.

So give me a new washer or dryer or vac - they never go out of style or loose their usefulness - no matter how old the recipient gets.

A store in this area is advertising big for Father's Day -- "Get Dad what he really wants!"

This is from Cabela's, which is a big outlet for guns and ammo!.. (among lots of other rugged outdoorsy goods).

On their web site Shooting page, http://www.cabelas.com/catalog/brows...0187?WTz_l=SBC, there is an ad: "Cabela's Father's Day SALE -- Shop great savings in SHOOTING GEAR"
I meant," said Ipslore bitterly, "what is there in this world that truly makes living worthwhile?"
    Death thought about it.
CATS, he said eventually. CATS ARE NICE.
