Thank you everyone for all the replies thus far. I will give you a little more of Phoenix' after story.
You are right Gary. Phoenix is part of our family. She is 'mostly' the kitty of my BIL Giulio. Her story was written up by Giulio. He is quite a character and very expressive in his writing. He was a literature major at University, in Venice no less. Phoenix adores Giulio. He calls and she comes running doesn't matter to her that I am the one that feeds her or other necessary stuff. Giulio was the one she stayed with in the beginning and still sleeps with every night. It was that most important time when she was transitioning and learning to trust again that she bonded so deeply with Giulio. She has claimed him. He is her pawpie and that's it. The most important thing is that it was that bond with Giulio that she developed that brought her out of her shell and molded her into the cat she is today. She overcame a rough start. She has scarring on her beautiful face from what the vet believes was a kick. She will never know that life ever again and it was just a shame she had to know it for the first 5 years. She can be a handful when she goes into one of her moods but she has more sweet moments than bad ones. She truly is a special kitty that deserved to get a new lease on life and she did.
Thank you all once again. I told Giulio, in a text message that she was COTD today and he replies saying 'I am very proud of my Fifi' We all are.
