Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand and strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming WOO HOO - What a Ride!

Until one has loved an animal, part of their soul remains unawakened.
I would be interested too. This year for the most part is out. I have a lot going on. I am in preparation for surgery and have a ton of consults & tests etc in the next few months leading upto surgery then I will need some time after to get back on my feet. I could do 2013 though, atleast as of now that seems good. Lots of time for me to plan & get some funds together. So if we plan something for 2013 I would be game.
2013 sounds great to meI should be less busy than usual following my spring time examinations, and shouldn't have too many, if any, placements to do.
Randi - I love Oxford and have family there, my dad grew up in an Oxfordshire village so I know the area fairly well. It's so easy to get to by bus/train too. Plus, it's a better example of 'real' England. I always say people who have only visited London (as much as I love it) haven't really been to the UK! London would be a great place to start, then there's Oxford, Canterbury, Brighton... plenty of nice places pretty near by that are worth a visit.
Of course, they all pale in comparison to the north of England, but I think I'd be pushing my luck there....
Michelle - hope all goes well with the surgery! Keep us posted.
Zara, I've visited Oxforshire many times, since John's sister lives near Witney, we have taken many trips to the surrounding towns, mostly to the west, into the Cotswolds. I think most Americans would love it, it's a beautiful part of England. Some towns I really like are Henley and Burford - have you been there?
Lake District is supposed to really beautiful, also. I haven't been there, though.
One of my dreams is to go on a boat up the Thames for a week, that must be special.![]()

I've been to Witney and Burford before, but not Henley. The parts I know best are the city centre itself, and the country villages north of the city
The Lake District is about an hour north from home and I've been there many times. It is beautiful and the landscape is very different to that of Southern England. It's best experienced if you are prepared to do a lot of walking but most people are content to find a little cafe at a lakeside and pass the day there. Northern weather is, however, famously terrible, so anyone who does plan to go - take an umbrella!![]()
