    Disneyland's Feral Kitties are TNR'd

    From Catsparella via Catster...

In 2001, with the help of Best Friends Catnippers and FixNation Disney began instituting a Trap, Neuter, Return policy to help manage the feral population in the park. The cats are caught and fixed before being released back onto the grounds, and kittens are all promptly adopted out. Cats that remain in the park receive food at five discrete feeding locations, as well as shelter, and in return they work as part of the nightly maintenance crew, keeping the non-Mickey mice in check.

Since the cats are feral, they shy away from human contact which is why they mostly remain hidden during operating hours.

Some of the cats even have their own favorite areas, such as the one above who was spotted outside at Hungry Bear Restaurant, and another named Lucifer who reportedly spends his time between the Haunted Mansion and Town Square.

"That's the power of kittens (and puppies too, of course): They can reduce us to quivering masses of Jell-O in about two seconds flat and make us like it. Good thing they don't have opposable thumbs or they'd surely have taken over the world by now." -- Paul Lukas

Living in So Cal, I have known a few people who work for Disney and I get mixed reviews on what kind of employer they are. Most say they are a really good company to work for in that they benefits are great and they treat their employees well. I know a couple of people who called the company "Moushwitz" after the concentration camp. These people still worked for them for many years so they couldn't have been THAT bad. The people who worked in the park as characters or worked the rides liked working there the best. Those who worked in the corporate offices were the ones with negative comments. I love what they are doing for the kitties. I go to Disneyland often, at least twice a month, and I will see if I can spot any of the kitties. It's loud and crowded there during park hours, but I generally stay pretty late, until closing, so I will be looking for the babies late at night.
