    Are you sure they are both 512mb boards? I'd run a diagnostic just to check the RAM is all functioning correctly, just in case.

    They are DDR PC2700 sticks. I don't think a 4GB stick exists in that line!

    I'm not sure what sort of diagnostic to run for RAM. I'll try reseating it and see what happens.
