I agree. In fact, cicus life is a cruel environment for ANY animal that was meant to be wild and free.

Great news. I'm not surprised they agreed to a fine instead of a public
Goverment hearing on the charges. They would have all their dirty laundry
of animal abuse aired in a public forum. Cruelty thrives best in a climate of ignorance.

They more than likely paid the fine because the fine is normally less expensive than the litigation.

In any other field it would be called extortion.

I've been to a circus only once and what I saw did not appeal to me - somehow large animals caged or trained to do tricks just does not sit right with me. Is the almighty dollar so important that these lovely creatures are taken from their natural habitat to exist in a cage and perform as needed?
