That's great that he ignored a cat. I hope he continues to do well. I would just take things slowly until you are sure of how he reacts to situations since he's an adult dog. Don't run into petsmart first thing.

I still believe that if you don't trust your own dog as a puppy, you won't bond closely. Also dogs pick up on people who don't trust them and mirror back the same level of trust. Eventually you will have issues with any breed if you can't bond with and trust each other. Thus if you start a pittie with an owner who has been taught never to trust their own dog, its a recipe for disaster. And yes, I think you're afraid of your own chosen breed, luvofallhorses, and its going to show in the dogs you interact with. As for that link, how are pitties supposed to gain a good reputation if people with well-trained, well-socialized dogs don't get them out there because they've been told to fear there dogs at all times? You really think they're all going to enroll in dock dogs or something like that and spend hours traveling and spending money for that? I think a better idea is to teach all dog owners how to read the body language of dogs around their own dogs. Many times I have walked my dogs to another area of the dog park because of another dog acting dominant and wanting to start stuff. Sometimes they don't even get in the gate yet and I can tell they will be trouble.
"There are two things which cannot be attacked in front: ignorance and narrow-mindedness. They can only be shaken by the simple development of the contrary qualities. They will not bear discussion."

How dare you say something like that to me. I LOVE this breed and you should know that.

Afraid of pit bulls? NO NO NO I am NOT! I have been around these dogs all my life and get excited to work with them at the shelter. I have never ever been afraid of them and will have one of my own someday.

Thanks for assuming that I am afraid of them. I NEVER once say to people to fear them. It's called education and telling them to take their dogs to safer places than a dog park. They are wonderful dogs, you just must be responsible with them around other dogs because dog aggression happens. It's just a part of them.

It doesn't make someone FEAR their own dog, they just need to have safer places to take their dog. I never once said ANYTHING about fearing their dog because dog aggression is common and never once said for them to keep their dog in a bubble. Staying away from dog parks with strange dogs is not keeping them in a bubble.

He sure is a handsome devil - but he's so BIG compared to little Lily. I worry when I see big dogs like that around the tiny ones. Call me a worry-wart I guess.
Tell Lily she can come here on vacation if she (or he), doesn't adapt.

He tries to play with her, but she firmly lets him know that she's not to be bothered LOL, plus she has myself and my mom to protect her !

Brennan isn't as interested in Lily as he is in the cats either, so that's good I think.

Guys really, take the argument to PM's this is someone INTRODUCTION thread for their dog.

Anyway, Bri, you already know how much I love Brennan. His name really suits him well and his eyes are striking! He's such a handsome good-looking pup If he's anything like Mikey (which I can tell he is!), he will learn with time. Trust me, not that I have cats but I know the kind of personality you're dealing with. We still don' take him to Petsmart, but I'm workin' on that. As for the manners and everything, I'm sure that'll change once he gets acclimated. Dogs seem to learn certain things on their own after awhile. He is 100% inside dog too right? I'm just wondering, 'cause he seems a little bigger then Roxy. I really love his nose to, very unique!

I hope things are going well Bri. I have to step in here and say, Krista (luvofallhorses) certainly isn't afraid of pit bulls. She has a passion for the breed and deals with them everyday. She also has watched them be killed off repeatedly due to irresposible owners many times at her job. She is only trying to help Bri with her new dog.

    More pics please Bri!

Time to move on to private messages. Let's not take over Bri's thread of her new addition. Although I too have to say Krista isn't afraid of the breed. She's simply pointing out that often pitties are subject to blame when fights happen, so why put them in a situation where fights commonly happen, no matter how socialized the dog is.

Go ahead and post more pictures of Brennan when you get the chance I absolutely love his coloring!! He seems like a sweet guy that's going to keep you busy!

Is she being singled out? Is she the one causing the trouble?

No I certainly didn't mean to single out krista, its just by that message things were obviously getting heated.

It's all good y'all. Thanks for the nice comments .

Alyssa, yes he is 100% inside! For one thing, we can't have outside pets where we live at, but really he's a great house dog. My mom has certainly come a long way in her thinking . I think Roxy would be so proud of all the things that have changed since we got Brennan.

I'll try to get some more pictures either tomorrow or over my Thanksgiving break . I definitely want to do a photoshoot; however, I do have a couple more from the other day I can share for now!

He is so handsome, I love him! He really looks good in green. You may want to get him a tougher collar though! Stillwater Kennel Supply has some really good ones for pit bulls.

If you look at customer collars, those show collars and leather collars look really nice. I should pass this along to my brother for Springen.

We have a Kong collar for Springen, and it lasts forever! Very durable and still looks very nice after having it over a year.

Yeah they are pretty nice and sturdy. A lot of APBT people I know use them and they last for years! They would do good with Boxers like Springen too. They can't slip out of them as easily. Your dog doesn't have to be a show dog to have a Stillwater lead and collar though I don't think! Ella's Lead and Collar Mania have some good walking collars too. They are on facebook.
