WASHINGTON (October 25, 2011)—Fort Hood

Pfc. Steven F. Shapiro, 29, of Hidden Valley Lake, Calif., died Friday in Tallil, Iraq, the military said Tuesday.

That’s the same day on which President Barack Obama announced that all U.S. troops will be out of Iraq by year’s end.

No details of the circumstances of the death were released.

Shapiro was assigned to Fort Hood’s 3rd Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Advise and Assist Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division.

Shapiro joined the Army in March 2010 and deployed to Iraq earlier this year, Fort Hood said Tuesday.
