We are on our second Canon Powershot and have had great results with them. Ours is an older model than the one listed, but it is still working well.

I have a Fujifilm as well as my Nikon DSLR. I love the fuji. It isn't a small point and shoot. It does have a manual setting & you can play with it a little but is awesome used in automatic (point & shoot). Here is the link. It is within your budget and I think you would get more bang for your buck with this one that the other fujifilm you were looking at.
I am not a fan of canon & it has nothing to do with quality. I think quality wise they are great but I find you pay more for the canon than for a nikon of the same features & quality. I was looking through the best buys site and the canon I was looking at compared to the nikon was $130 more.
The olympus I was checking out was this one. It seems to be quite nice.Maybe you are looking for something more compact but I just think value wise this gives you more.
$200 can buy you a lot of camera these days. The compact camera market is dying because the prevalence of iphones. Consumers are getting a lot of megapixels and bang for their buck.
I have two cameras for that price and I love them both. I got a cheapo ultra compact Canon Powershot and a Nikon Coolpix thats the size of a credit card and thickness of a pack of gum. They go everywhere with me, I let Cameron use it to his heart's content because it was so cheap ($70 for 10 megapixel Canon..... I never thought I would see that price point on ANY Canon!)
IF I had the $400 they're aking for the DSLRs I would get one in a heartbeat because I miss the ability to make all adjustments myself (the commpacts do have amnual setting but they are limited). The one thing I seriously miss from the compacts are making my own settings and deciding how I want something focused.
I will always rave about Olympus and FujiFilm, always. Sure, their customer service absolutely sucks, but I love the quality of the cameras. I have two camera that I currently use, both are waterproof, shockproof, etc. Both are those two brands and they are insanely good quality. They do exactly what they promised they would do. I've been snorkeling, just goofing off, etc in the ocean with both and they are brilliant. For a clutz like me, it's good to have because I drop cameras alot too. My olympus is a bit out dated and it was REALLY expensive, it was about $260-$300, but the fujifilm is under $200 and is 14 megapixels.

I also have underwater shots if anyone wants to see them.
Seriously, they are both fantastic, especially the Fujifilm one. If you go hunting, hiking, snorkeling, sledding, snowboarding, whatever else..they WILL last. I've done sledding, waterparks, pools, oceans, snorkeling with this thing and it is still intact and still the same from the day I bought it!
